Greetings!
I am pleased to render this
report on the Foundation’s performance for the fiscal year just ended,
FY 2008-2009:
The Foundation’s assets currently
stand at P1,485,528.04 compared to last year’s P1,427,781.87, or an
increase of 4%. For the year just ended, the Foundation was able to
solicit a total of P34,800.00 in donations; hence, its principal fund
now amounts to P1,367,711.36 as compared to last year’s P1,332,911.36.
Dividends and interest earnings totalled P244,051.17. thereby generating
revenues in the amount of P278,851.17. These revenues exceeded total
expenses in the amount of P226,105.00 by P50,396.17.
Of the fourteen (14) college
scholars and fifty (50) high school scholars that ZUFI supported last
school year, one college scholar, Mr. Etelbert Conde, a product of
Mualbual Integrated School graduated Cum Laude (BSE-Math) from the Samar
State University. Likewise, four other college scholars merited
inclusion in the Dean’s List, namely: Cristina Aliño (BSEd, SSU);
Bernadette Comeque (BSEd-Math, SSU); Jemmalyn Llanza (BSIT-SSU); and,
Debbie Lalaine Pacayra (BSEEd, VSU). On the other hand, five scholars
were unable to satisfy the scholastic requirements; hence, their grants
have been suspended.
For the current school year, SY
09-10, ZUFI will be supporting more than eighty scholars: fourteen (14)
in college, and sixty-nine (69) in high school.
For review, ZUFI’s certificate of
scholarship entitles the recipient to a high school or college
scholarship grant, provided that he or she is able to maintain an
average grade in any grading period of at least 85% (2.0) with no grade
in any single subject lower than 80% (2.5). As a matter of policy, the
number of college scholars may be increased to accommodate new
applicants who merit inclusion in the Dean’s List but are not yet ZUFI
scholars; similarly, the number of high school scholars may be increased
by the Foundation to accommodate new applicants from those who earned
top honors (1st, 2nd and 3rd honors) but are not yet ZUFI scholars..
I wish to take this opportunity
to convey my deepest thanks and gratitude to my fellow trustees and our
donor-friends for their invaluable assistance and cooperation. Indeed
without their selfless support, the Foundation would be unable to
sustain its aim of enabling poor but talented students acquire
functional education that would help them improve their current station
in life.
Many thanks and God bless! |
